Division Among Christians

Notice people follow the teachings of men instead of letting Jesus be their Teacher.

All denominations even non denominational teach falseness from men.

Paul warned about saying you follow men.

1 Corinthians 1:11-12 My brothers, some from Chloe’s household have informed me that there are quarrels among you. 12 What I mean is this: One of you says, “I follow Paul”; another, “I follow Apollos”; another, “I follow Cephas”; still another, “I follow Christ.” 13 Is Christ divided? Was Paul crucified for you? Were you baptized in the name of Paul?

1 Corinthians 3:1 Brothers, I could not address you as spiritual but as worldly—mere infants in Christ. 2I gave you milk, not solid food, for you were not yet ready for it. Indeed, you are still not ready. 3You are still worldly. For since there is jealousy and quarreling among you, are you not worldly? Are you not acting like mere men? 4For when one says, “I follow Paul,” and another, “I follow Apollos,” are you not mere men?

5What, after all, is Apollos? And what is Paul? Only servants, through whom you came to believe—as the Lord has assigned to each his task. 6I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God made it grow. 7So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow. 8The man who plants and the man who waters have one purpose, and each will be rewarded according to his own labor. 9For we are God’s fellow workers; you are God’s field, God’s building.

1 Corinthians 3:18 Do not deceive yourselves. If any one of you thinks he is wise by the standards of this age, he should become a “fool” so that he may become wise. 19For the wisdom of this world is foolishness in God’s sight. As it is written: “He catches the wise in their craftiness“; 20and again, “The Lord knows that the thoughts of the wise are futile.” 21So then, no more boasting about men! All things are yours, 22whether Paul or Apollos or Cephas or the world or life or death or the present or the future—all are yours, 23and you are of Christ, and Christ is of God.

1 Corinthians 4:6 Now brothers, I have applied these things to myself and Apollos for your benefit, so that you may learn from us the meaning of the saying, “Do not go beyond what is written.” Then you will not take pride in one man over against another.

The Catholics have their false Apostolic Succession; they claim they follow Peter that their popes are in the line from Peter.

Christians even call these men they follow “church fathers”. Jesus says plainly not to call any brother in Christ ‘father’, yet that is what they call Augustine, Augustus, Ignatius, Polycarp, and Tertullian…

The Protestants are known for following after mere men some follow Luther, Calvin, Wesleyans are followers of John Wesley, and the Seventh Day Adventists say they follow Ellen G. White, the Baptists claim to follow John the baptizer, etc.

However, we are to have Jesus himself as our Teacher. Jesus becomes our Teacher and we learn God’s Truth by getting Jesus’ teachings in the New Testament and doing what he says to do. He says that anyone who obeys his teachings he will save them and reveal himself to those people. We get understanding and knowledge by obeying his teachings. He tells us exactly how to get saved, born again, a child of God’s, an heir, and what we will receive. He says to humble yourself, to change to that like a little child that has to do everything their Father says to do, or we can never enter. We have to give up our lives as we know it and be ready to do everything God the Father says to do. We have to confess our sins to him, we have to crucify ourselves with him on the cross and die to the sins of the world and believe his blood that was shed on the cross washes us of all our sins, and we are to promise to live to please him. We then call on him to help us, to save us, to make his home in our heart and put us in him, it is how we are reconciled to God—-God in us and us in Him. He will give you his Spirit when he accepts you. You might have to keep knocking, which is to keep trying and waiting…keep obeying. You have to want him and love him more than you want anything and anyone even more than your own life. We are to wait for him and are never to give up or give out or give in.

We are known and loved by God personally when we obey Jesus’ teachings. When we are saved we are purified by obeying Jesus and faith in his blood at that time we are without sin and are born again made perfect and holy, then we live our new life living up to that which we received. We work out our salvation and train ourselves to know good from evil. If we sin we confess it and ask him for forgiveness and help, he lives to intercede for us.

The Bible says that demons teach false doctrines, no doubt by way of men and women.

1 Timothy 4:1 Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;

1 Timothy 4:16 Watch your life and doctrine closely. Persevere in them, because if you do, you will save both yourself and your hearers.

2 Timothy 2:26 and that they will come to their senses and escape from the trap of the devil, who has taken them captive to do his will.

We have to watch our life and doctrine closely. Do you want God’s truth or man’s truth?
